The Kang Hau experiment gave the following

In the West Indies the average yield of seed cotton per acre varies from 800 to 1,400 lbs. and under the best conditions a deficiency of half these quantities would make the industry unremunerative. Our results show that uniess
the weight of seed cotton can be at least trebled the cultiva-
-tion of cotton cannot be recommended.

The destructive eale bad doubtless something
to do with the shortage of cotton, and the ground being too low and damp was also against success.

Several varieties of Indian cotton seed are
now in hand and another experiment will be made at Sokunpo
during 1906. The labourers will have the advantage of this
year's experience. Dryer ground will be used.

I think that the importance of this and some
other experiments now being conducted warrants the employment
of a better educated ran that we can now spare for this work.
