Report on market value attached.

The Kang Hau experiment gave the following

Seed as before.

Soil, sandy loam.

8.

Area .085 acre.

height of seed cotton 24 cz.

Approximate cotton per acre 45 lbs.

In the West Indies the average yield of seed cotton per acre varies from 800 to 1,400 lbs. and under the best conditions a deficiency of half these quantities would make the industry unremunerative. Our results show that uniess

the weight of seed cotton can be at least trebled the cultiva-

-tion of cotton cannot be recommended.

9.

The destructive eale bad doubtless something

to do with the shortage of cotton, and the ground being too low and damp was also against success.

10.

Several varieties of Indian cotton seed are

now in hand and another experiment will be made at Sokunpo

during 1906. The labourers will have the advantage of this

year's experience. Dryer ground will be used.

n

I think that the importance of this and some

other experiments now being conducted warrants the employment

of a better educated ran that we can now spare for this work.
